LECTURE

Introduction to Photoshop 3: Adjustment and Layers & Filters
Once we composed all 3 compositions on the digital collage Mr Yusoff will check on each of our composition to see which is the best. That is where we learn about the adjustment layers and filters. It is a tool in Photoshop where I can change the images color and tone without permanently altering the original image.In the lecture we learn that adjustment layer is used to enhance raw images.

About Adjustment Layer:
  •  A Non-destructive image editing tools that allows you to edit the image without permently altering the original 
Adjustment Layer Features:
  • Brightness / Contrast - it makes adjustments to the tonal range of your image. 
  • Level - modify the tonal values in an image by adjusting the levels of the shadows, midtones, and highlights. 
  • Curves - adjust as many points as you want throughout the entire tonal ran.
  • Exposure - adjust only the highlights of the image, Offset adjusts the mid tones and Gamma will adjust the dark tones only.
  • Selective Color - selectively modifies the amount of a primary color without modifying the other primary colors in your image
Filters:
  • It changes color, add blur or create completely new image effects.

PRACTICAL

Instructions:
  1. Attach your best composition from WEEK 3 digital collage exercise below.
  2. Using the same Photoshop file, improvise your WEEK 3 digital collage into WEEK 4 by using Adjustment Layers & Filters on Photoshop.
  3. Explain what you’ve learned in the description section.

Digital Collage Adjustment Layer 
Mr. Yusoff reviews my digital collage composition to see which is the best, he said they all look good. I have decided that Composition 2 as the best composition. Once I pick the best one, I use adjustment layer and filter in Photoshop to modify the color and lighting.

Descriptions:
This is one of the digital collage compositions that I made in Week 3 we learn how to crop out an area in an image by use the pen tool. There are alternative ways to do it by using the Lasso Tool and the Magic Wand Tool. I also learn to use layers, using layers helps to edit the image without disturb the overall composition.

On Week 4 I learn that using the adjustment layer and filters help to make the images pop. It is also a useful editing tool where I can control the tone and color without permanently altering the original image.
